The song ‘Flowers And Rust’ from the new Von Hertzen Brothers album has won the prestigious ‘Anthem Of The Year’ award in the Progressive Music Awards in London! The award was announced yesterday in a gala held in London’s Kew Garden where the brothers were present to receive the award. The award was presented by the well-known BBC news presenter Gavin Esler, who is also a fan of the band.

Mikko von Hertzen spoke about winning the award: “Well it has been amazing to see how well we’ve been received here in Britain. There is a lot of competition for radio play, the attention and the nominations for these kind of awards is amazingly tough. The fact that our song was selected as the prime of Progressive Rock this year makes me quite humble. This is a wonderful and sweet fruit of the work well-done and the honour belongs to all of who have supported and voted for us. Thank you!”

Von Hertzen Brothers were also nominated in the category for ‘Breakthrough Artist Of The Year’. The most nominations went to Marillion, Steve Hackett got three nods and Von Hertzen Brothers were up for two against the likes of Ian Anderson, The Enid and Amplifier. All the category winners can be found in the magazine’s website: http://www.progrockmag.com/awards

Von Hertzen Brothers are also nominated for the Best Rock Album of the Year in the internationally renowned Classic Rock Magazine Awards. They have a tough challenge in their category with Queens of the Stone Age, David Bowie, Steven Wilson, Black Sabbath and Rival Sons also nominated: http://awards.classicrockmagazine.com/awards/album-of-year
